To Reduce the harmful effects caused by drug use in the UK

People use drugs.
Always have, always will.

From legal drugs like alcohol and tobacco to cannabis and cocaine, the natural human desire to change one’s mental state is very powerful and no campaign can stop it. Nor should it.

If the most dangerous drug in the UK, alcohol, is freely available and embedded into our culture, how can we expect young people not to try others*?

Peer pressure is commonly stated as being one of the major reasons why young people start using drugs, but little emphasis has been on the real reason – people enjoy it.

In fact, many people enjoy drugs without coming to serious harm.

Everyone who has used drugs knows that they can be a risk to their health. In addition to the desirable effects of drug use, this ’danger’ element only adds to the allure for young people.
‘Say No’ campaigns have done nothing to change this behaviour.

Approach:
We aim to do this by affecting a change in behaviour towards drugs,
especially in those who are new to using drugs

How:
By communicating a more effective message which young people find more credible will listen to. Visibility at events, leisure centres, nightclubs…anywhere where young people are

Targets:
Young people (18-30) Parents of drug users. All drug users
